Thunder Acquires Veteran DMan Descoteaux

Wichita, KS (Mar. 8th) - The Wichita Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Edmonton Oilers, AHL's Bakersfield Condors and powered by Toyota, announced today that the team has acquired defenseman Nolan Descoteaux from the Wheeling Nailers for cash considerations.

Descoteaux, 28, brings over 200 games of ECHL experience to the Air Capital. A native of Dallas, Texas, the 6-foot-1, 205-pound blueliner has played for Gwinnett, Allen, Rapid City, Atlanta, Missouri, Alaska, Indy and Wheeling over his four-year career. He began the season with the Indy Fuel, collecting 16 points (1g, 15a) in 60 games. Descoteaux was dealt to the Nailers on February 20th and appeared in six games. He helped Allen to the Kelly Cup title in 2014-15.

Prior to turning pro, Descoteaux played a four-year career at RIT (Rochester Institute of Technology). In 139 games, he collected 35 points (12g, 23a) and 187 penalty minutes for the Tigers.

The Thunder begins an eight-game road trip on Saturday night at Tulsa starting at 7:05 p.m.
