Starrett Called Up; Doornbosch Returns

Wichita, KS (Nov. 30th) - The Wichita Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Edmonton Oilers, AHL's Bakersfield Condors and powered by Toyota, announced two separate transactions today. Goaltender Shane Starrett has been reassigned by Edmonton to Bakersfield. Defenseman Jamie Doornbosch has been released from his PTO and returned to Wichita from Bakersfield. Starrett, 23, is having a tremendous start to his pro career. A native of Bellingham, Massachusetts, the 6-foot-5, 220-pound netminder is fifth in the league in goals-against average(2.27), tied for fourth in save percentage (.930) and tied for fifth in wins with seven. The Air Force Academy product signed with the Oilers before the season and assigned to Wichita prior to Opening Night. Doornbosch, 27, signed a PTO with the Condors earlier this season. The Richmond Hill, Ontario native led all Thunder blueliners in scoring last year with 30 points (10g, 20a) in 44 games. He was tied for second on the team in assists and third in points last season. The second-year defenseman spent five seasons with Saint Mary's University (CIS) before turning pro. He collected 84 points (17g, 67a) in 133 career games with the Huskies and was selected to the Second All-Star Team during the 2013-14 season. The Thunder will host the Kalamazoo Wings this Saturday for the team's annual Teddy Bear Toss.
