Wichita, KS (Dec. 31st) - The Wichita Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the Ottawa Senators and powered by Toyota, announced today that forward Ryan Rupert has been assigned by the Ottawa Senators from the American Hockey League's Binghamton Senators. In a separate transaction, the Thunder dealt defenseman Martin Nemcik to the Utah Grizzlies for future considerations.

Rupert, 22, is a former sixth round draft pick (#157 overall) of the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. A native of London, Ontario, the 5-foot-9, 190-pound forward has played in 19 games this season for Binghamton, recording six points (3g, 3a). In 135 career-AHL games, Rupert has 58 points (31g, 27a). His best season came in 2014-15 during his rookie campaign when he tallied 15 goals and 27 points for the Toronto Marlies.

Prior to turning pro, Rupert had a stellar junior career with the Ontario Hockey League's London Knights, racking up 194 points (58g, 136a) in 224 games and adding 48 points (25g, 23a) in 55 playoff games. He was a part of back-to-back OHL championship teams in 2011-12 and 2012-13.
