Wichita, KS (April 7th) - The Wichita Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the Ottawa Senators and powered by Toyota, announced two roster moves this afternoon.
Defenseman James Melindy has been loaned to the American Hockey League's San Diego Gulls. Forward Brad Cuzner has been added to the roster for the final two games this weekend.
Melindy, 23, leads the Thunder in penalty minutes with 229 and is fourth in the league in that category. He is fourth in the league in minor penalties and third among defensemen with 13 majors. The Goulds, Newfoundland native is a former third round pick (#88 overall) of the Arizona Coyotes in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. This will be Melindy's first call-up this season.
Cuzner, 24, makes his second go-around with the Thunder after joining the team in late February. The rookie forward has appeared in 51 games with the Southern Profressional Hockey League's Evansville Thunderbolts, recording 14 points (1g, 13a). Before he turned pro, he spent the last four years at St. Francis Xavier University. The 5-foot-10, 183-pound forward appeared in 105 games for the X-Men, collecting 33 points (17g, 16a). Cuzner joins his former teammate, Drew Owsley, in the Air Capital.
The Thunder makes their final trip of the regular season to Tulsa tomorrow to take on the Oilers in the StoneWolf Casino Cup Series.
