Major Announcement Taking Place Tomorrow

WHAT: The Wichita Thunder, Visit Wichita and INTRUST Bank Arena will announce that Wichita was selected as a host city and venue for a sporting event that will bring visitors to Wichita, and elicit excitement of hockey fans from around the country.

WHEN: Friday, Dec. 7, at 3:45 p.m.

WHERE: INTRUST Bank Arena, 500 E. Waterman, Wichita KSFree parking available in Lot 3Enter through Entrance C (north doors)

DETAILS: Wichita has been selected as the host city for a noteworthy event. The announcement will be held at INTRUST Bank Arena, inside Entrance C on the north side of the arena. Staff will be on hand to direct attendees to the press conference. Thunder fans are encouraged to attend. All attendees will receive a special gift, courtesy of the Wichita Thunder and Visit Wichita, while supplies last.

About Wichita ThunderWichita Thunder is a minor-league ECHL team that has been playing at INTRUST Bank Arena since 2010. When the Blue Line was founded in 1992, they were one of the original six Central Hockey League teams and went on to win CHL Titles in both 1994 and 1995. The Thunder joined the ECHL in 2014 and has served as the National Hockey League (NHL) affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers since 2017. Former Thunder player Scott Darling won a Stanley Cup with the Chicago Blackhawks in 2015 and currently plays for the NHL's Carolina Hurricanes. The Wichita Thunder hockey season runs from October through April at INTRUST Bank Arena.
