Wichita, KS (Nov. 10th) - The Wichita Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Edmonton Oilers, AHL's Bakersfield Condors and powered by Toyota, announced today the signing of forward Mark MacMillan to an SPC.
MacMillan, 26, returns to Wichita after beginning the season overseas in Sweden. He appeared in 11 games for Tingsryds AIF and also played in two games for EC Kassel Huskies (DEL2). A native of Penticton, British Columbia, the 6-foot, 185-pound forward was second on the Thunder in scoring last season with 53 points (21g, 32a) in 65 games.
The former fourth round pick (#113 overall) of the Montreal Canadiens in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft brings leadership and strength down the middle back to the Air Capital. MacMillan began his pro career in 2015-16 with the AHL's St. John's IceCaps. He tallied 30 points (12g, 18a) in 120 games with the IceCaps. He also had five points (2g, 3a) in six games with the Brampton Beast that same season.
Prior to turning pro, MacMillan played four years at the University of North Dakota and served as an alternate captain during his senior campaign. He was named Defensive Forward of the Year in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference in 2014-15 and was leading the conference with a career-high 16 goals when he suffered an injury in February. MacMillan finished his college career with 46 goals and 53 assists in 151 games.
