Wichita, KS (Feb. 5th) - Kyle Hayton stopped 33 shots and Allen got enough offense to escape Wichita with a 2-0 win on Tuesday night at INTRUST Bank Arena.
Ty Rimmer gave the Thunder a chance, stopping 25 of 27 shots in the losing effort.
After a scoreless first period, Riley Bourbonnais broke a scoreless tie with a shorthanded breakaway goal at 7:13 of the second. The Thunder penalty kill came up large a few minutes later when Ryan Van Stralen and Marc-Olivier Crevier-Morin were sent off, giving Allen a two-man advantage. Wichita killed off both penalties and trailed 1-0 after 40 minutes.
In the third, Alex Breton tallied his ninth of the season to increase the lead to 2-0. He snuck in from the blue line and beat Rimmer to the blocker side. Wichita pulled Rimmer with less than two minutes to go in the third, but couldn't solve Hayton and the final horn sounded.
The Thunder heads on the road starting Friday night to take on Rapid City starting at 8:05 p.m. CST.
