ECHL Announces Revised Schedule

Wichita, KS (Oct. 13th) - The ECHL announced today the revised playing schedule for the 2014-15 season. Wichita will open their inaugural campaign in the ECHL at home on Saturday, October 25th against the Allen Americans.

Click here to view a month-by-month view of the new schedule. Games highlighted in yellow are those involving the seven expansion teams approved by the ECHL Board of Governors this past Tuesday.

The Thunder will see two new teams this season as they will travel to Elmira to take on the Jackals on Sunday, December 7th. The Evansville IceMen come to town for a pair of games on Saturday, January 10th and Sunday, January 11th. It will be the first time since the 2011-12 season that the IceMen visit the Air Capital.

Several other dates have changed to the Thunder's schedule including a trip to Rapid City on Wednesday, November 12th. Wichita will host Missouri on Sunday, November 16th and follow that up with a trip to Tulsa on Tuesday, November 18th. Three road dates with the Quad City Mallards have also changed as the Thunder will head to the I-Wireless Center on Wednesday, January 7th followed by a pair on Friday, February 6th and Saturday, February 7th. Two contests against the Allen Americans have been moved as the Thunder will travel to Allen on Wednesday, February 18th and Wednesday, March 18th.

Wichita will close the season with three additional games at INTRUST Bank Arena, which increases the total number of home games to 36. Tulsa will visit Wichita on Wednesday, April 8th and Friday, April 10th. The Thunder will finish the regular season at home on Saturday, April 11th against Allen. Season ticket holders will be offered a special package to purchase these three additional games. With the purchase of this three-game package, season ticket holders will receive an exclusive Wichita Thunder, ECHL t-shirt. Season tickets will be available to pick up on Wednesday, October 22nd starting at 6 p.m. at Pucks Sports Bar at the Wichita Ice Center. Players will be on hand to meet and greet season ticket holders. Small appetizers and a cash bar will be available during the event.

The ECHL began in 1988-89 with five teams in four states and has grown into a coast-to-coast league with 28 teams in 20 states and one Canadian province for its 27th season in 2014-15.
