Thunder president Chris Presson has pushed back his deadline for hiring a coach to the second week in June. The earlier timetable, set by Presson in late March, had a new hockey coach in place by June 1.
That tidbit is the only substantive update on the coaching position for the Thunder, which is coming off the worst season in the 16-year history of the organization.
Presson has said that he would turn his attention to the vacancy after the start of the Wichita Wingnuts' season; Presson is also president of the independent baseball team, which opened its inaugural season May 8.
On Wednesday, Presson sent an e-mail about the coaching search.
