The Thunder's long weekend in Youngstown, Ohio, lasted a few minutes more than expected Sunday, but the outcome wasn't what the team was looking for.
Youngstown beat Wichita for the third consecutive day, winning 3-2 in a shootout.
The game was close all day. Youngstown scored midway through the first period, but the Thunder's Travis Clayton made it 1-1 with a shorthanded goal at 12:39 of the first period.
The SteelHounds got the only point of the second period when Joel Irving scored at 1:08. An early third-period goal by Stan Yanchishyn drew the Thunder even again.
In the shootout, Youngstown goalie stopped all five Wichita shooters. Thunder goalie Bill Zaniboni allowed a score by Chris Richards in the third round for the winning goal.
